How Nature's Plants Started

Back in the late 90's I started looking for a greener way of producing container plants.
Most of the UK production nurseries had moved from traditional field production, providing plants in the autumn and throughout the winter in a bare root or root balled form to plants in pots. Garden Centre’s now liked the ease of and shelf life of the new production and this moved most of the sales of plants to the spring. With the pots came ever more point of sale and packaging to increase sales.
For over 15 years we had been reducing our use of pesticides and using natural pest control but had followed in the other nurseries foot steps and moved almost totally into container production. Naturally we started looking for ways to reduce our reliance on totally Peat products, the reduction of mains water usage and plastic pots and packaging.
We then spent three years trailing products and growing plants that had a very low carbon footprint but would still work for the Garden Centre’s and other plant users. Nature’s Plants was the name we said that would describe the new product and so this is how it all started.
